PAST EVENT: Introduction to the Figura Method

  • Figura | Dutch Academy of Figurative Sculpture 10 Hendrik van Wijnstraat Amsterdam, NH, 1065 AS Netherlands (map)

Instructor: Sanne van Tongeren
Date: Thursday 7th of March
Cost: 180 euro
Location: Hendrik van Wijnstraat 10, 1065 AS Amsterdam

In this one-day workshop participants will get an introduction to sculpting the human figure. We will work with a step-by-step structure, in which you learn to accurately describe the large structures and the bony landmarks.

Program

Sanne van Tongeren gives an introduction to the 'Drawing in space' teaching method, demonstrating the most important themes (gesture - proportion - body type) using the model for reference. Once the model’s pose has been analized, we bend the armature into the correct shape. We then systematically look at the relationship between the large structures ('box' and 'egg') and the important 'bony landmarks' with special attention to proportions and gesture. The workshop ends with a review of the method.

Time table

9.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 16.00 h

Instructor

Sanne van Tongeren is principal instructor and founder of Figura.
